The design concept embarks on an artistic endeavor to redefine Penang George Town Festival's brand identity. We draw inspiration from the colorful heritage, iconic architecture, and cultural flair of Penang Island. At its core, our mission is a poetic exploration of connectivity—how we intricately interlace the festival into the fabric of the local and global community. Each line work resembles the urban silhouette, harmonizing identity and relevance, interpreting the pulsating "HERE and NOW." Our goal is to encapsulate the festival's complex and diverse program, akin to a kaleidoscope, crafting a festive celebration of art that evokes imagination within Penang's rich cultural tapestry.

For the New Gen, the years 2020 to 2023 were the lost years. Due to the impact of COVID, the New Gen was forced to stay in their rooms, conducting their studies, socializing, and getting to know the world from within their rooms. As a result, the New Gen was unable to establish their identity fully and also lost its connection with the community. 

How can we encourage the New Gen to step out of their rooms and rediscover the wonder of the real world? How can we motivate the New Gen to start making new friends and reestablish connections with others? Before responding to this question, we must understand what the term New Gen means and their priorities. We can conceive a project to reshape the New Gen community based on this knowledge. 

MISSION
Create motivation and provide resources to encourage the new gen to go out and discover the wonder and excitement in every day.

VISION
The beginner’s guide to "go reality".

The "Omi Cities" illustration exhibition records Hung Man Po's memories and footsteps in Sham Shui Po, where he grew up, and what he saw and heard in Kuala Lumpur. Through illustration and printmaking, he intertwines reality and imagination, crossing time and space to contrast the similarities and differences between the two places.

What is your impression of Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia?

Hung Man Po, a Hong Kong native who has lived in Sham Shui Po district for many years. Six years ago, he began traveling to Kuala Lumpur, 2,500 kilometers away, to feel the contrast of cultures between the two places and discovered the similarities of Chinese culture in both.

As time passed, the scenery he witnessed, the delicacies he tasted, and the conversations he had with local friends brought him the familiar "Hong Kong flavor."

Walking on the streets and looking at the historic architecture, Po recalled scenes from Wong Kar-wai's movie "Days of Being Wild," as if time had frozen in the 70s.

The claypot chicken rice, lo han guo drink and bean sprouts chicken rice in Petaling Street triggered Po's taste memory from his childhood.

Listening to the stories of friends born in the ‘70s and ‘80s, he learned that they were deeply influenced by Hong Kong culture, "I watch Stephen Chow movies growing up," "I study design and illustration because Michael Lau is my idol," and so on. Hearing these stories made him feel warm inside.

However, with the evolution of time, the influence of Hong Kong culture in Kuala Lumpur is not as strong as before. The younger generation there is closer to mainland China's popular culture, speaking more Mandarin than Cantonese, and less aware of today's Hong Kong. Po also feels the similarity of the political climate between the two places, making him feel nostalgic.

「雙城記」插畫展，記錄了洪文寶成長的深水埗，多年來的回憶與足跡；以及他在吉隆坡的所見所聞，透過插畫和孔版印刷，將現實和想像交織在一起，跨越時空，對比出兩地的同與不同。那你印象中的香港深水埗，馬來西亞吉隆坡，又是怎樣的呢？

洪文寶是一位土生土長，住在深水埗區多年的香港人。他六年前開始走遍2千500百公里外的吉隆坡，感受到兩地文化的對照，並發現華文化在兩地的相近之處。

隨著時間的推移，洪文寶的眼中所看到的景色、口中所品嚐的美食，以及與吉隆坡朋友的交流，都帶給他熟悉的「香港味」。

走在吉隆坡街上，看著那些老舊房子，洪文寶想起了王家衛電影《阿飛正傳》中的場景，仿佛時光在70年代就已經定格。

茨廠街的瓦煲雞飯、羅漢果水攤檔、芽菜雞飯，則勾起了洪文寶童年時的味蕾記憶。

聆聽著70後、80後朋友的故事，洪文寶了解到他們深受香港文化的影響，「我睇周星馳大㗎」、「我讀設計畫插畫因為Micheal Lau 係我偶像」等等，聽著這些故事，內心感到溫暖無比。

不過隨著時代的演進，香港文化在吉隆坡的影響力已不如以往，當地的年輕一代更接近中國大陸的流行文化，講華語多於廣東話，也較少了解現今的香港。洪文寶也感受到兩地政治氣候的相似，令他不禁唏噓不已。

展覽於2023年5月在吉隆坡及2023年10月在香港舉行。

插畫 X 農業日常展

近年來綠色生活風氣興起，而北區是香港少數仍有農業活動的地區。這次綠葉劇團與視覺藝術家洪文寶合作策展，遊走雞嶺、丙岡、荔枝窩及蕉徑，發掘現今本地農夫和綠色生活者們與土地共生的故事，並運用插畫形式去訴說他們對生活的熱忱。透過這次展覽中的故事，描繪了北區獨特的城鄉共處風景和現今本地農業的生態，令身處城市的我們能親近北郊的人與事。

我們更幸獲丙岡農夫財哥借出一批逾六十年以上歷史的珍貴農具，與及其他受訪者借出農業產品，令展覽裡內容更真實和完整地呈現，在此對他們深表感謝。

策展人感言

過往我對於北區的認識很淺薄，多得這次策展機會讓我有機會遊歷這片城郊共些，比香港島面積還要大一點七倍的獨特地區。為了採集資料，我跟綠葉劇團走訪了粉嶺墟市、龍躍頭圍村、沙頭角及上水的文物建築群，亦去了雞嶺、丙岡、荔枝窩及蕉徑等農地，希望能更全面地去了解這片地方，這個香港。

當中對農地的探訪經驗非常深刻，亦認識到一些很有意思的農夫朋友，他們當中有非常年輕的，也有將近退休年齡的。而他們的共通點都是為追求理想的生活模式，去努力開墾腳下的土地，亦致力減少地球的負擔，聽他們訴說當中的體驗讓我獲益良多。於是我決定把焦點集中去講他們的故事，推廣他們的理念。希望其他香港人都能透過這個展覽，感受到他們的生活熱度。

2020 年底洪文寶受 「 就係香港 Being Hong Kong 」 邀請 ， 選取 8 個於 2020 年間結業的而為香港人熟悉的行業或店舖繪畫插畫，把它們風光的一刻紀錄下來 ， 包括 ： 港龍航空 、 Jimmy’s kitchen ， 珍寶海鮮舫 、 辰衝書店 ， 當中充滿幾代人的集體回憶 。希望大家透過作品 ， 更能珍惜和支持現存的特色香港品牌 。

而這次洪文寶為配合懷舊主題 ， 再次夥拍 dotdotdot Studio 以 「 孔版印刷 Risograph Printing 」 — 比較接近手工印刷的方式 為作品限量制作。

Have you ever been to this special shop in the old days of Hong Kong? ” one day the next generation might ask. In the past two years, the world has been affected by the pandemic and the economy has declined. Hong Kong is inevitably affected by this global impact. Many brands and stores have more or less closed down because of this...

At the end of 2020, Hung Man Po was invited to collaborate with the magazine “Being HK 就係香港” and selected eight unique brands that closed in 2020, including Dragonair, Jimmy’s Kitchen, Jumbo Seafood Boat, and Swindon Book Co Ltd., etc. to portray their sceneries, which are full of collective memories of different generations.

Once again, Po collaborates with the local printer dotdotdot studio, using Risograph printing — similar to silkscreen printing technique to produce this limited collection of artwork. “Listen, Hong Kong” – Let Hung Man Po tell you the story of Hong Kong.

HONG KONG STORY

The search for traditional businesses and the people once contributed to the development of Hong Kong is as grueling as a treasure hunt. Last year, Théâtre de la Feuille rummaged through various districts of Hong Kong to collect the remaining stories of these dying out occupations, and created a mobile theatre: The Happy Poor Guys. My work is to transform these valuable characters and their stories into illustrations, and cooperating with new generation craftsmen by using the printing art of 1950 German letterpress and 1980 Risograph, I hope to continue this native Hong Kong story.

港故

現今想在香港這石屎森林尋找老行業的店舖和職人，難度等於尋寶。去年綠葉劇團走訪了香港各大小老區，尋覓、採集了一些碩果僅存的老職業和職人的故事，然後創作出「我哋大家在獅子山下相遇上」流動劇場。 我有幸與綠葉劇團合作，把這些寶貴的故事和人物轉化為插畫，然後我再和新一代傳統印刷職人合作，以1950年代德國活版印刷和1980年代孔版印刷技術把香港本土故事重現，透過這次展覽希望能更廣泛推廣和流傳。

The content includes exclusive interviews with small and medium-sized enterprises and listed companies, stock market analysis, and discussion of important domestic and foreign issues. Send you the most exquisite financial news through Podcasts and online live broadcasts every day. CAIJIN also plans to launch channels for entertainment, music and health information in the future.

In this proposal, we take on what the design brief calls for, which is to create a brand identity that carries a corporate image with a sense of playfulness in taste. The overall look and feel should fulfill a decent statue but not too serious, with a hint to go against the conventional impression of a business radio station of being dry or boring.

The design concept is to deconstruct the Chinese words in the logo using different strokes hidden in the Chinese words to reconstruct geometrical shapes and icon symbols. These symbols are playful and subtle, they are repeated in different scenarios. Sometimes they are arrows or pointers, indicating directions; sometimes they are icons for web or user interface.

The design aesthetic, in terms of typeface, colours and illustrations aim to be able to relate and marry to the mother brand BFM when put together. Also, we put into consideration that it appeals to the Chinese business community, business owners, start-up owners, professionals, educated middle class and university students, aged between 25 to 55 years old.

BACKGROUND

Hong Kong arts has developed a prosperous arts scene, and has cultivated a wealth of talents whose works were greeted by the global arts scene with acclaim. Thanks to the funding of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) has presented the JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power since 2017. The Festival, comprising more than 100 arts events from September to January every year, brings together established and emerging local artists who flourished and received accolades worldwide to produce well-received, creative and engaging arts experiences filled with local elements for all. With its unique vision and exciting line-up of events, JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power has developed into one of the most anticipated arts festivals in Hong Kong.

PRISM OF NEW ARTS

We approach the concept of Prism in two directions - diversity and honor. Firstly, it signifies that this festival has a spectrum of diverse art forms. It is through this event, the public has an opportunity to be exposed to different colours of the arts. The geometry is taken from the existing NAP logo and further elaborated. From one grows to more. Secondly, the seemingly random geometry comes together and creates a cubism portrait of artists, whose works are the content of this event. New talents under the spotlight. Therefore, this proposal honours new artist as a creative role in our society today. The geometrical illustration is flexible and easily adapted to different promotional materials and has a coherent visual identity.

ABOUT
The second edition of Hong Kong Dance Exchange International Festival (HDX) gathers eight up-and-coming dance talents from Hong Kong, as well as eight aspiring choreographers from Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore.

SCOPE OF WORK
As the lead designer, I was in charge of main key visual and identity design for festival, which includes all promotional material: posters, banners, house program booklet, flyer, web page and social media, etc.

CONCEPT
The basic visual design consists of 3 different variations that can either stand-alone or when put together forms the initials of HDX. The idea derives from body parts of a group of performers composing new forms, giving life to the other as a collective. When the words arm and leg are put together in Chinese it also means comrades 手足.

關於
第二屆「香港比舞」國際舞蹈節（HDX）匯集了來自香港的八組嶄露頭角的年輕舞蹈家，以及來自加拿大、日本、韓國、台灣和新加坡的八組海外出色編舞團體一起創作出我15部作品呈現給香港觀眾。

工作範圍
作為案子的設計總監和設計師，我負責節目的主要視覺和形象識別設計，其中包括所有宣傳材料，例如：海報、橫幅、節目手冊、傳單、網頁和社交媒體等。

概念
視覺設計包括3個不同的畫面，它們元素是各表演者的身體不同部份，然後再重新結合為有趣的「人體」畫面。它們可以獨立使用，也可以組合在一起形成「HDX」的縮寫。 形成的視覺效是是遠作是一位舞者起舞，再細看時發現畫面包含不同的人體部份「共舞」，也意味著「手足相連」。

The theme of deTour 2019 is “NEW OLD. OLD NEW.” with the concept of “New Combination”. Classic conic design from different eras are juxtaposed whilst the words “NEW” and “OLD” radiate vibrantly in the background, to create a time tunnel connecting the present with the past, the new with the old.

SCOPE OF WORK
This is a collaboration of Po Hung Design Lab and SILO in creating the deTour 2019 key visual and identity design. The scope of works includes environmental decoration, promotional banners, tram advertisement, webpage design and social media advertisements, etc.

CONCEPT
Created the “New old, old new” time tunnel background, and the classic design objects are floating or passing through the tunnel that represents good designs that are timeless and long-lasting.

2020年結業潮下，多家經營數十年的品牌或老店都在一夕間關門。疫情下生生死死的循環更替，好容易叫人麻木，設計師出身的Po Hung藉著插畫，重描港龍航空/ 中環Jimmy's Kitchen/香港仔珍寶海鮮舫/ 銅鑼灣蛇王二/土瓜灣財記百貨/ 尖沙咀辰衝書店/ 九龍城公和荳品/ 深水埗中國冰室八家店子或品牌的黃金年代，叫人不忘香港曾經的繁華盛世。

I was born in the 70s, grew up in the booming economy of 80/90s Hong Kong and witnessed the signing of Hong Kong Sino-British Joint Declaration in1984. That was a time when life was relatively comfortable and without much pressure from my family in choosing a career path. After graduating from high school, one can join the work force without being particularly ambitious. You can make a living. Perhaps under that climate gave rise to a generation that is dispassionate to politics and social issues.

In contrast, after the hand over of Hong Kong to China, the youth today encounters greater pressure. Many lost faith for a better future. In 2019 June, they bravely led us to the streets, to protest against the authoritarian power. This poster is tribute to our heroes.

One of the posters was invited to participate in the poster joint exhibition hosted by Dotdotdot risograph printing design in 2019, was very successful.

我出生於70年代，見證了1984年《香港中英聯合聲明》簽署及80、90年代的風光年代。當年的生活壓力相對不大，高中畢業後，隨便找份工作就可以搬離父母謀生自住，只要努力也能爬上高職。 在這樣的氛圍下，產生了我們對政治和社會問題漠不關心或不了解的一代人。

相比之下，香港移交中國後，今天的年輕人面臨的生活壓力要大得多。 機會並非留給努力的人，而是為親中及背景的人。許多年輕人對香港和自己的未來完全失去信心。 在2019年6月，他們勇敢地帶領我們走上街頭，抵抗獨裁政權。 這組海報是向我們年輕的英雄致以無上敬意。

海報於2019年應邀參加了由Dotdotdot孔版印刷設計組織主辦的海報聯展，引起迴響。

ABOUT
Alishan Food Truck Gourmet Competition is a cooking contest located in Alishan, Taiwan. It aims to promote regional tourism and attract more visitors to explore local food in the region.

SCOPE OF WORK
Head designer for the entire event. Responsible for key visuals and brand identity design, that includes all promotional material, social media advertising, merchandiser, etc.

CONCEPT
Japanese Ukiyo-e and traditional Chinese painting is used here as the illustration style. This is the main element of the brand concept, to reflect the history of Alishan. Additionally, local food ingredients, such as bamboo and tea, are illustrated here to promote Alishan’s innovative cuisine.

ABOUT
Theâtre de la Feuille is a physical theater group based in Hong Kong, deeply influenced by the western methodology of Jacques Lecoq, interweaving with Eastern artistic traditions. It has gone on numerous international tours, performing on different global stages that include China, France, Italy, Croatia, Korea and Japan.

SCOPE OF WORK
To re-brand a total new look for the Theâtre de la Feuille in 2014. The scope includes company logo, illustration visuals, promotional poster, house program etc. for various theater production.

CONCEPT
The design concept for the company’s logo derives from the outline of a theater stage. Different variations can be developed from the same concept. The company’s name is like the performances on stage, encapsulated within a space. Also, it is made to look like a Chinese traditional seal - a signature.

ABOUT
An award-wining tea brand in Alishan, that owns a tea farm and rose glasshouse, seeks to revamp their brand.

SCOPE OF WORK
The brief calls for re-branding of the tea farm and their products. The scope includes company logo, illustration visuals, packaging design and promotion materials, etc.

CONCEPT
The brand reflects the impressive nature, the vibrant colours of the sky, from day to night and spring to winter, the mountain landscape in the mist of harmonious atmosphere.

ABOUT
The archaeology of Chinese dialects is an event in Malaysia to promote and appreciate different local Chinese dialects (中國方言）.

SCOPE OF WORK
Brand logo design, promotional materials, marketing visuals and advertisement etc.

CONCEPT
To give the brand a local Malaysian identity, South-East-Asian architectural elements are utilised here. The selection of colours, like turquoise blue and Chinese red is also culturally significant to the region. Deconstructing the Chinese Hanzi into individual strokes, is to reflect the different ways of reading the same words. The Chinese language can be spoken in many different ways.

FUTUREBRAND

CHALLENGE
The Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) is a self-financed, non-profit organisation, and is widely recognised as an arts and culture incubator in Hong Kong. There are two affiliates under HKAC: 1) Hong Kong Art School (HKAS) which is an accredited institute staffed by a group of dedicated artists and with multiple sites. 2) Comix Homebase which is an exhibition hub and centre for exchange that connects local comics and animation artists with the international community.  The rebrand project aims to modernise HKAC image and help them to be a Hong Kong arts hub.

IDEA
The idea of “Arts At the Centre” was derived directly from the name of Hong Kong Arts Centre, to emphasise HKAC as an arts hub in Hong Kong, creating a strong, modern and memorable brand new image.

SOLUTION
We created their brand strategy, architecture (HKAC and affiliates), and identity system by using the simple and unique logo shape “A” that simply means “pointing to the centre", and applying the triangular shape on selected touch points to reinforce the idea. Modern typography and supportive graphics were also created to reflect the brand image.

Creating a new brand for the next generation of buyers

CHALLENGE
Furrion spent 13 years as a leading manufacturer of audiovisual equipment, appliances and power solutions for specialty vehicles, luxury RVs, yachts and consumer industries. But the founders wanted to expand into the home appliance market, which required investing in brand building to articulate their vision and strengthen their relationship with end consumers. Additionally, the brand needed permission to stretch into adjacent business areas, including net-zero energy systems, robotics and futuristic luxury recreational vehicles for a new generation of buyers.

SOLUTIONS
We worked closely with Furrion’s leadership team to uncover and articulate a powerful brand purpose, promise and set of differentiating principles that would capture their expansive growth ambitions and help shape the brand for future growth. Next, we upgraded their logo and visual identity system to ensure the brand expression reflected the new story. We then brought the brand to life across a comprehensive new e-commerce website and brand film.

RESULTS
The brand was unveiled to much acclaim at CES in Las Vegas, the world’s biggest consumer electronics show. The exhibit featured show stoppers such as a 20-foot racing mechanical robot, and Elysium, a concept RV with a helicopter and hot tub on the roof.

The new Furrion logo was showcased on all show elements, with the brand film playing on a loop on a 20-foot screen. The result: a CES ‘Best of Show’ award, over half a billion media impressions, a surge in inquiries from distributors and an invitation from HBO for both the robot and Elysium to appear in the next series of hit comedy show, Silicon Valley.

In 2018, Furrion was awarded a gold award for ‘Best Visual Identity from the Technology, Media and Telecommunications’ category and a silver award for the ‘Best Brand Development Project to Reflect a Changed Mission/Value/Positioning’ at the APAC Transform Awards.

CHALLENGE
To create a brand for the British Council’s new young learner programme in Asia, teaching English to 6-12 year olds across the region.

IDEA
FutureBrand identified that the future of education was changing from imparting fact to developing individuals, with teaching needing to focus on how to apply knowledge and life skills such as creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. The opportunity existed for British Council to create a brand to champion the learning revolution.

SOLUTION
The Primary Plus brand was created with a strategy that looked to the future, where learning English is viewed as a life skill for students to navigate subsequent challenges. The playful visual identity echoed this idea by having a collage style of illustration that used segments of a circle to build characters and graphics. Our target age group responded positively and the brand was implemented across environment, print and digital applications. Together the strategy and visual identity of the brand engaged young students and their parents through a brand experience built on a holistic philosophy to education.

CHALLENGE
A respected developer in Hong Kong, Chuang’s Consortium, is creating a new hospitality group under its umbrella to house hotel, resort and spa, as well as residential offerings. Hotel sáv in Hong Kong is to be the flagship and first demonstration of the sáv brand.

IDEA
With the client, we co-created our idea “Explore More.” The sáv hospitality offering targets the millennial Chinese audience who are more interested in cultural education and adventure. This gets demonstrated across a brand visual system and language that is fun, stylish and experiential. The accent on the sáv name becomes an icon for an attitude and a point of view. The system can flex from dynamic to sophisticated depending on their offerings.

SOLUTION
Working together with the sáv hospitality group, we created their brand strategy, architecture, and identity system across all of their three category offerings. We continue to work with them on designing their other sub-brand offerings such as their F&B and retail line of products. We also provide on-going brand advisory to ensure every touchpoint will be created on-brand.

CHALLENGE
To create a new restaurant identity for Hotel sáv in Hong Kong, in accord with their colourful character.

IDEA
The restaurant is the main all-day dining option of the hotel, serving a range of international dishes with a strong emphasis on fresh ingredients, locally sourced produce, with an artistic flair. The project spanned from name creation to visual identity, environmental graphics and photography.

SOLUTION

The name, Palette, was created to express the restaurant’s variety of international tastes and the artistic play of fresh local ingredients. It also communicates the hotel’s main theme about colour therapy.

The visual identity was inspired by the artistic nature of watercolour. We used motifs from an artist studio: wooden interiors, ironwork, handwritten typography, and paper that felt like a sketchbook to complement the theme.

This book is about the dying occupations in Hong Kong.

In collaboration with 綠葉劇團 Théâtre de la Feuille, they created a play that based on real stories to create a street performance - 「我哋大家在獅子山下相遇上The happy poor guys 」. The performance aims to remember the forgotten occupations in the old days of Hong Kong.

I created a collection of illustrations for all the characters in the performance. Illustrated in the style of Chinese paintings of the Ming and Qing dynasty era to create a retro Chinese feeling. Each character has a specific job, through research and interviews, their personal stories are collected and documented.

In the end, I put them together in an art book and collaborated with the Hong Kong risograph printer - Dotdotdot that printed in retro printing technique and handmade binding. So it's 100% Hong Kong production from creation to printing.

A collection of street photography capturing the “nightscapes” of three Asian cities: Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. The photographs are printed using Risograph and an art book is produced as part of the collection. Since 2014, Po Hung has been taking photographs on the streets at night during his travels. He is intrigued by the urban architectural space that morphs into the dark.

At night, the city gradually morphs into the mysterious and amorous. Gritty streets decorated by over exposed neon signs, headlights and street lamps, like a pungent smell of cheap perfume, shadows offer more fantasies than reality. I enjoy venturing into this realm alone. Being inside as an outsider. Observing the privacy of a stranger’s silhouette. Feeling stoic and at ease. I raise the camera before my
eye - Click!

The shutter sound cuts through the darkness, merges with the stranger’s footsteps.

The Alishan project consists of varies activities in affiliation with the tourism board to promote local food and culture of Alishan Taiwan. Alishan is located in the central highlands of Taiwan that is well known for its tea growing and beautiful natural landscape. Po Hung is responsible for the Branding and Design development for this project that spans across several months in 2018. The program includes food truck cooking competition, workshops about tea processing and bamboo shoots harvesting, concerts and art performances etc all takes place in Alishan.

The result derives from Po Hung’s experience and in-depth understanding of the place by physically being there. In the design, he incorporates the different activities of the event as well as the mountain landscape of Alishan, aiming to accentuate the vernacular identity of Alishan. The graphic direction is inspired by paintings from the Ukiyo era of Japan and also Chinese Ming & Qing Dynasty. He fuses contemporary elements with ancient mythology, creating a unique style. In 2019, Po Hung has taken this project further to produce a collection of posters and handmade art book.

Dust is a personal art project and emotional journey of Po Hung. This is a collection of 15 hand drawings using the simplest language of drawing – a dot, as repeating element. In conjunction with the exhibition of this collection, he handmade an art book in limited number. 

I start with a single dot, from one to another, forms slowly reveal themselves……………..

In the beginning, they are particles in the atmosphere, drifting dust, flowing water. Then, seeds take off in the wind and grow into leaves, condense into tangible cells and evolved into biological forms. Here, is the transformation of life, from simplicity to complexity.

I continue to draw different parts of my body, my left hand, my left leg, my torso and my face, each in/completes with a void. Finally I ask: Who am I? Where did I come from? In the same moment, a sense of calm and peaceful feeling is growing. I come from the universe and all matter is connected, from all to one.

PROPHET

The Brief
Fox Networks Group is launching FOX+, a new video streaming platform, in Asia. With ambitions to challenge the likes of Netflix and Hulu, Fox turned to Prophet Hong Kong to develop a brand strategy, visual identity and customer experience strategy for launch. 

The Solution
We created a powerful brand positioning -‘Choose More’- to capture the key consumer benefits of FOX+. Choose FOX+ and you are choosing more of the latest blockbusters, more of the hottest new shows, and more flexibility with live streaming, downloading, and social engagement. To bring the brand to life, we created a contemporary and dynamic identity. The plus symbol is purpose built for a digital environment, unfolding to reveal a universe of unlimited entertainment, and constantly changing colour to reflect the spectrum of content available on FOX+. 

The Results
FOX+ has successfully launched in the Singapore and Philippines, with downloads in the first month exceeding targets by 75%. Hong Kong will launch later in 2017.

CHALLENGE
Beijing Aquarium is a famous aquarium in Mainland China under CITICPE, located in Beijing. CITICPE planned to rebrand all their aquariums in different cities with a consistent look and feel, and to upgrade their image to be more high-end and modern.

IDEA
The primary target of Beijing Aquarium are families, followed by young couples. Scientific and education are the main ideas.

SOLUTION
The logo mark’s concept is a fluid liquid ball with multiple colour versions that depicts the aquarium concept. This was matched with the colourful fluid supportive graphics and educational messages to become the system’s main elements.

CHALLENGE
China Everbright Limited was established in Hong Kong in 1997. On one hand, Everbright manages series of private equity funds, venture capital funds, sector focus funds, mezzanine funds, hedge funds and principal investment as operated via an international management platform, and provides overseas investors with opportunities to explore and invest in companies with fast growing potential inMainland China. On the other hand, Everbright also seeks investment opportunities from overseas and provides diversified financial services for its clients in Mainland China. The rebranding project aims to update the current brand image to be more international: more active, more premium and more confident.

IDEA
The brand idea is "Mastering Smarter Wealth". The new brand image has to be smart, professional and bold. The executed concept is "Leading Lights." 

SOLUTION
Word mark is the logo approach in this concept, with a golden stroke on the letter "E" as a touch to represent the "light" idea. The golden light beam also inspired the creation of a flexible graphic pattern to represent moving forward. Simple yet bold, the revitalised brand clearly communicates the new corporate message.

CHALLENGE
CLP’s goal is to meet Asia-Pacific's energy challenge in an economical, sustainable and socially responsible way from one generation to the next. The target of CLP Group is B to B and B to C, but currently CLP Group and its subsidiary CLP Power Hong Kong Limited share the same brand system and image. CLP Group needs to differentiate from its subsidiaries to create more of its own brand equity, and to take bolder steps in gaining recognition, showing dynamism and innovation through being as a thought leader that drives the future conversation.

IDEA
The brand idea is "Powering Bright Connections”.  Through providing "Energy" to the communities it serves, CLP connects the world, from the grid to its relationships with partners and the togetherness it facilitates between people. 

SOLUTION
To convey “Connections”, the supporting graphic is created using two or more rounded strokes with conjunction(s), to represent the following relationships: CLP and Customers, CLP and Partners, Community and people, old and young generation, today and tomorrow, etc. The look and feel of the graphics works well with the existing CLP identity.  A series of complementary functional icons were also created to enrich the concept.

CHALLENGE
SCAD is an art and design university from US, with four distinct locations and online via eLearning, where talented students begin their rewarding and professional creative careers. SCAD offers a diverse assortment of degree programs and courses, each led by faculty who are not only professors but also accomplished artists and designers themselves. The project requires designing of 3 marketing pieces for Hong Kong campus, including student piece, parents piece and mini website, aiming to attract local and overseas students who want to explore the Hong Kong lifestyle.

IDEA
All marketing pieces have to align with SCAD’s positioning as “The University for Creative Careers”.

SOLUTION
All contents were tailor-made for Hong Kong campus, reflecting the lifestyle and the programs in Hong Kong.  The student piece (orange booklet) was designed as a note book with half book of note pages, for student to keep and use it after reading. Apart from academic study, the content also emphasises campus life. The parents piece (blue booklet) focus more on career information, such as successful cases.

To continue providing creative design and production for the reputable Annual Report of Swire Pacific, our long-term client.

IDEA
Each year we come up with a new design concept to transcend the previous year’s work. In 2014, to reflect the brand’s attributes, we used a dynamic upward angle to visually capture their future-driven and diversified positioning.

SOLUTION
Taking care over the fine details in the layouts, editing and printing, we ensured accuracy and spoke to the excellence of the Swire Pacific’s offerings. The theme of sustainability was expressed through a clean design printed on uncoated recycled paper.

2017 is the year of Rooster, I designed a organic soap packaging for Prophet, which is a Chinese New Year gift for the working and potential clients.

The Rooster is a confident creature who welcomes the morning sun each day, embracing a fresh start. The hand-made natural soap symbolizes a fresh start and a year full of prosperous possibilities.

The Fabric of Society

Context
The Hong Kong Jockey Club (the Club) founded in 1884 is one of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong. As Hong Kong’s largest community benefactor and the gatekeeper of a highly exclusive membership program, the Club wants to reinvigorate the meaning and sense of mission into its membership program. 

Challenge
The Club has enjoyed widely shared and deeply rooted perceptions associated with its membership program. However, the Club has been following the same set of standard, static and fixed visual and verbal elements, which fail to support the new brand story in preserving its relevance.  

Strategy
Beginning with the core brand attributes, Prophet conceptualized membership as the Pursuit of Success and devised four experience principles to bolster the new brand story and membership experience: Respectful & Rewarding, Attentive & Precise, Curated & Contemporary, and Uncompromising Integrity. Prophet deployed a set of visual elements and brand guidebook to communicate the meaning behind the new membership brand through key touch-points in the membership journey. 

Results
The new membership brand story and visual language are being launched in conjunction with a new and ultra-contemporary clubhouse in Happy Valley which will also provide the perfect opportunity to pilot the experience principles in order to deliver a fresh and reinvigorated membership experience.

MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL
The idea is creating a night scene of Hong Kong with the futureBrand signature circle icon "F" as the full moon. The details of the scene - e.g. the SF and Hoau delivery vans, Shanghai Tower and Fiji Airways etc., are the brands that designed by FutureBrand in the pass. Representing brands are in everywhere, and close to everyone lives.

WE LIVE IN HONG KONG
A personal project in 2013. Hong Kong has a wide variety of interesting botanicals that does not draw people’s attention. It is amazing what inhabits Hong Kong’s soil. 
A collection of dried plants, twigs and leaves creating a typeface design calling people to look closer and let them know that “We, are not the only ones who lives in these soil. ”

Image taken when I travelled to Sizihwan Bay, Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 2011. 

People were fishing and the uneatable fishes are left out on the pier. I took photos of their dying moment. It captured my emotions at that exact time  – my passion was dying, and I was hungry and thirsty for life, for passion.
